Interlaken is well known as a top adventure destination and it doesn’t disappoint! Located in the stunning Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, Interlaken is surrounded by crystal blue lakes, forests and mountain peaks! Adventure never seems far away and if you love the outdoors then it offers everything form hiking to hang gliding and everything in between! A top highlight and must do for any visitor is a trip to the top of Harder Kulm, Interlaken’s very own mountain! The view is absolutely stunning and one of my favourites from my time in Switzerland! (Look at that view – absolutely breathtaking!)
Here’s how you can visit Harder Kulm and the top of Interlaken too!
Harder Kulm: Visiting The Top Of Interlaken
Your journey begins at Harder Railway valley station, which is a 7 minute walk from Interlaken-Ost station . Buy your ticket and board the funicular which will take you to the top of Harder Kulm in just 10 minutes. It’s a steep journey and you’ll watch Interlaken fade into the distance as you reach the top at 1,322 meters above sea level!
Once you reach the top, It’s a 5 minute walk to the panoramic restaurant which looks like a castle! There are a few benches and deckchairs to relax and enjoy the views too!
The highlight of this trip has to be the 2 lakes bridge viewing platform! It’s the best view of Interlaken and the surrounding area for sure! (Maybe even the Jungfrau region?!) You are standing in between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and looking out towards the magnificent Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains!
What a view! You’ll definitely want to spend some time soaking it all in and taking some snaps! (The cow has a pretty good view!) If you are feeling brave on your way back down, why not take a seat at the front of the train?
Visiting Harder Kulm is a memorable experience and a trip not to be missed if you are visiting Interlaken!
