Paris! The city of lights and the city of love! The capital of France is probably one of the most iconic cities of Western Europe and is a perfect destination for a weekend away or the start of a Euro Trip! It’s also close to Disneyland if you are a big kid at heart! (Next time!) Whilst in Paris, you will walk down elegant streets with impressive buildings, see the Parisian’s stylish fashion sense and experience the coffee culture!
Here are my top 10 highlights of things to see and do:
You can’t miss this famous landmark walking around the city and it will probably feature in many of your photos! I would highly recommend climbing the 1665 steps to the top and stopping off at the 3 of the viewing platforms on the way to soak up the views! The 360 degree view of the city from the top is your reward for the climb and it is absolutely worth it! (You can also take the elevator if you so wish!)
Paris is called the city of lights for a reason! It really is very pretty lit up at night and I can see where it gets it’s romantic reputation from!
Love Lock Bridges
Talking about romance, on the city bridges are hundreds of locks with lovers initials symbolising everlasting love – cute!
Taking a cruise down the River Seine is a good alternative to walking around the city and you can see some famous sites along the way! It’s very relaxing and the cool breeze is enjoyable after wondering around in the heat!
If you enjoy something sweet you are in luck! There is plenty of food to try and your options include: a freshly made Crepe with Nutella; croissants and Macaroons in every flavour imaginable! Enjoy!
This is a famous Gothic Cathedral and is worth a visit to admire the beautiful architecture! You can walk along the river to reach the site or see it from the river cruise! Wish I’d had time to go inside!
Arc de Triomphe
This is a monument to French Soldiers and is built with very grand, detailed architecture. It’s located in the centre of a chaotic roundabout so If driving keep your wits and if walking be carful crossing the road! You can climb to the top for a panoramic view of Paris!
This is one of the most famous streets in Paris! It’s lined with shops, cafes and restaurants and gives you an insight to Parisian life! It links the Place de la Concorde and the Place Charles de Gaulle so it is a walk that can can be easily incorporated with sightseeing!
Musee du Louvre
If you are into Art then this is the place for you! Home of the Mona Lisa and other famous works, go early to avoid long queues! If you are not into art, no problem just grab the classic pyramid photo from outside!
